The UN sounds like a doomsday cult leader with all of their dire predictions of the “end times”. There’s many more just like this one, because like any good cult leader, they never miss an opportunity to use fear porn to manipulate their followers to get their way. They’re using something called availability bias to constantly remind people that the “end is near” and that climate change is serious business—and we need to realize it, damn it!
According to Wikipedia, availability bias “is a mental shortcut that relies on immediate examples that come to a given person’s mind when evaluating a specific topic, concept, method or decision. The availability heuristic operates on the notion that if something can be recalled, it must be important, or at least more important than alternative solutions which are not as readily recalled. Subsequently, under the availability heuristic, people tend to heavily weigh their judgments toward more recent information, making new opinions biased toward that latest news.”
Basically, as long as the media, governments, and that monstrosity called the UN continue to flood the zone (information narrative) with the same doomsday theme for years and years, and keep it fresh in people’s minds, those who consume such drivel will constantly refer back to it as truth, because it’s the information that’s the most recent, and therefore the most readily available to them. Manipulative people and organizations do the same thing with the overpopulation myth, where they keep reminding us with movie and television plots, as well as so-called scientific studies that are reported on by the media, that we’re terribly overpopulated, and that the world will end if we do not slow our already dismal population growth. (Of course, they’re also using other logical fallacies, such as the appeal to authority fallacy, which argues that something must be true because an authority is stating it, rather than the facts and reasoning behind it being sound.)
This is another reason why it is so important to go within and renew our minds through the use of reason to work through and process our emotional upsets, because it holds our thinking accountable for the quality of our emotional states, making us impossible to manipulate with emotionally charged nonsense and fear porn. When we process our emotional upsets, we rid ourselves of our tendency of self-deception with poor thinking habits, which are typically manifested through an emotionally charged use of logical fallacies and cognitive biases in place of multilogical thought processes such as the trivium and strong sense dialectical and dialogical thinking.
THE UNITY PROCESS: I’ve created an integrative methodology called the Unity Process, which combines the philosophy of Natural Law, the Trivium Method, Socratic Questioning, Jungian shadow work, and Meridian Tapping—into an easy to use system that allows people to process their emotional upsets, work through trauma, correct poor thinking, discover meaning, set healthy boundaries, refine their viewpoints, and to achieve a positive focus.
